Leadership Fairfax was proud to present the popular Board of Supervisors event on May 20, 2021, bringing together Fairfax County and regional leaders for a conversation with the Board of Supervisors on the state and future of the county. Guests were welcomed by Leadership Fairfax Board Chair Kim Stewart, LFI’17 and Visionary Sponsor Cigna’s Brady O’Beirne, LFI’19. Chairman Jeff McKay kicked off the Supervisor discussions with a State of the County address and each of the supervisors took time to discuss what they learned leading through the pandemic and what they’re focused on as the community moves forward.

The event was emceed by Casey Veatch, LFI’99 who encouraged attendees to stay positive and look forward to continued growth and success as our community bands together to support each other beyond COVID. These positive messages inspired the supervisors to put on their sunglasses because when we all work together, the future is bright.

Former Secretary of the Commonwealth, Katherine Hanley, presented her namesake award to Cathy Muse, Chief Procurement Officer for Fairfax County. The Katherine Hanley Award for Public Service recognizes leaders who embody service to the community. Cathy Muse has served the county for over 20 years and was recognized for her contributions and leadership during COVID-19 to ensure continued operations and the health and safety of employees and volunteers.
